4-H Programs, Plans & Events:

Rowan County 4-H offers several programs, events, and competitions throughout the year. If you have questions about these opportunities, please email laura_allen@ncsu.edu.

Rowan 4-H Clubs meet throughout the year. More information on 4-H Clubs.

County Council is open to youth ages 12-18 (as of January 1). This group typically meets each month at the Extension office in the evening (time varies, but usually starts between 6-6:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 1-1.5 hrs). This group of 4-H’ers plans and organizes county level programs (such as Achievement Night). They are involved in planning fundraisers and community service projects and creating new ideas for Rowan County 4-H, while also gaining leadership skills. If you want to be added to the County Council email list for updates and meeting reminders, please contact laura_allen@ncsu.edu.

Parents, Alumni, Leaders and Supporters (PALS) is open to any adult who wants to support 4-H and help plan, fundraise and share new ideas that will benefit the Rowan County 4-H Program. This group currently meets February, April, June, August, October, December. February, June and December meetings are held via Zoom. April, August, and October meetings are in-person.

Rowan County 4-H’er of the  Year application (for 13-18 year old Rowan 4-H’ers).

All year long, work on a 4-H Project of your choice & fill out a Project Record Book.

  • 5: Entry registrations due for Rowan County Fair (you may have 4-H artwork, sewing projects, baked goods, vegetables, flowers, etc. that you can enter). Also enter any livestock you may be showing (if you are doing the 4-H broiler, layer, or dairy project, we have you registered)!
  • 8: Registration due for the 2023 Egg-cellent Egg Contest. Click here to learn more & to register.

  • 17: Drop off registered fair entries at the Rowan County Fair from 1-5 p.m.

  • 23: Rowan County Fair Jr. Dairy Show (where those doing the 4-H Dairy Heifer Project are showing)
  • 24: Pick up fair entries in the Exhibit Hall at the Rowan County Fair from 2-4 p.m.
  • 28-October 1: 4-H Volunteer Conference of Southern States in Georgia (for 4-H volunteers who have pre-registered)
  • 29: 4-H competition entries for the NC State Fair due to the Rowan 4-H office
  • 30: State Shooting Sports Tournament in Ellerbe, NC
  • 30: National 4-H Dairy Judging competition at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin
