Whether you’re looking to start your own hive or simply want to understand the vital role bees play in our ecosystem, the 2025 Rowan County Beginner Beekeeping School is the perfect place to start. This year, we’re offering an in-depth, hands-on beekeeping training program designed for beginners.
Over the course of four class sessions, you’ll gain a wealth of knowledge and practical experience to help you get started in beekeeping.
What you’ll learn:
The basics of beekeeping: Learn how to set up and maintain healthy hives.
Beekeeping equipment: Discover the tools you’ll need and how to use them.
Bee biology and behavior: Understand how bees work and why they are so important to our environment. Hive management: Gain skills in inspecting hives, managing colonies and troubleshooting common issues.
Class details:
Dates: Feb. 15, Feb. 22, March 1, March 8.
Time: 8 a.m. – noon
Location: Rowan County Cooperative Extension Office 2727 Old Concord Road, Salisbury
Cost: Only $75 per person, with an option fora couple rate of $125. This fee covers all class materials, including a comprehensive resource notebook and a beginner beekeeping book full of handouts.
