Sharpen up your Skills Back to the Basic Cooking Series Set to kick off October 18, 2019!

You love to cook. You are not that good at cooking. You like to eat. If any or all of these statements describe you then N.C. Cooperative Extension has the class for you! Join us as we embark on a 4 class series exploring the various aspects of basic cooking skills. Whether you choose to attend 1 or all 4 classes you are sure to learn some new skills and have a good time. Check out the class descriptions below and reserve your seat today!

Knife Skills 

The first is the Back to the Basics Cooking Series will help you feel more confident in your cooking skills. Learn the basic knife skills used in all types of cooking. Cheffenod fresh herbs to garnish your dishes, Julian potatoes for perfect fall soups on October 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. and impress your friends this holiday season with your new skills. Soups and Sauces 

In the second class of our Back to the Basic Cooking Series, you will learn about the “Mother Sauces” and how they can be altered to fit your tastes. Create easy and delicious soups your family will love! Register to join us on October 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a great basic class to help expand your cooking skills. Class fee is $18.00. Bread and Biscuits 

There is nothing like bread right out of the oven. Impress your family with warm fresh-made bread and biscuits this holiday season! Join us for the third class in our Back to the Basics Series on November 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. to learn tips and tricks to making these delicious treats! Class fee is $18.00. Pound Cakes  

We are ending our Back to the Basic Cooking Series on a sweet note by taking on the classic pound cake. Join us on December 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. as we explore many ways to bake the perfect pound cake that is sure to impress those “hard to buy for people” on your Christmas list. Class fee is $18.00. Each class has its own registration link and we ask that you register and pay using that link. Payment will only be taken online using a credit/debit card through Eventbrite. No in-person or over the phone registration or payments will be accepted at this time. Please bear with us as we work out the kinks for this new system.
