A variety of hazards exist in homes and they can be the source of or a contributing factor to a number of illnesses and injuries. Unhealthy homes expose families to environmental hazards including lead-based paint, combustion gases, molds, radon, asthma and allergies, and pesticides. These hazards put children and their families at significant risk for illness and injury. It is possible, however, to create a healthy home environment. Healthy homes are homes that are:
